One question bro. How do you qualitify the inertia, drag and shape coefficient for onbottom calculation? If it is define in the design basis by the consultant, it is ok, but some time it is missing from the document. DNV Standard is a bit cloudy on this one.
I doesn't have AGA, run using spread sheet according to DNV Onbottom Stability. it hard find a crack version; :D
Hi bro, DnV and AGA is 2 different methods for designing the pipeline on bottom stability. As I notice, those ceofficent are taken from DnV RP E305 (I’ll help to find it for you).
I’m also run the analysis using excel spreadsheet, for me, as long as you understand and follow the analysis sequence from DnV RP E305, you also can generate your own On Bottom Stability spreadsheet.
From spread sheet, i can modify it to check stabilization by concrete mattress. It check the total effective weight * FOS > function of drad force, lift force etc etc.
But, in reality, i was never very2 sure my calculation is OK. hahaha

I suggest you follow this sequence : 1)Run the on bottom analysis as per DnV until you get the stable concrete thickness. 2)Check the submerged weight of pipeline(from (1)) at the section effected. 3)Use that submerged weight and balance the weight with the concrete mattress submerged weight. 4)From there you can get the nos. of concrete mattress required for your analysis.
This is the method of what I'm done to stablize the concrete mattress and also realistic to actual situation. For my opinion, please do not change the calculation as stated in DnV, because it will creating the inappropriate result.
